American Soybean Associates - IM - Europe, Maghreb & CIS

USSEC's office in Europe serves the European region including Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, U.K., Ireland, Austria, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cypress, Malta, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, and the North African countries of Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) is a dynamic partnership of key stakeholders representing soybean producers, commodity shippers, identity preserved value-added merchandisers, allied agribusinesses and agricultural organizations. Through its global network of international offices, activities are carried out that will create and sustain demand for U.S. soybeans and soybean products. USSEC is overseen by a Board of Directors comprised of 19 members — seven representing the American Soybean Association, seven representing the soybean checkoff and the United Soybean Board, and five representing trade, allied industry, and state organizations.

The activities of USSEC are made possible by producer checkoff dollars invested by the United Soybean Board and various State Soybean Councils, support from cooperating industry, and through the American Soybean Association's investment of cost-share funding provided by USDA's Foreign Agriculture Service. In key markets and targeted industries, USSEC conducts marketing activities and provides technical assistance throughout the global soybean value chain. This is achieved by:

  • Providing technical assistance to primary soybean processors making them more efficient and profitable and increasing demand for their products and consumption of U.S. soybeans.
  • Assisting primary processors of soybeans market their soybean meal to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers.
  • Creating demand and increasing consumption of soybean meal by demonstrating to livestock, poultry and aquaculture producers the efficiency and benefits of increasing soy inclusion in feed rations.
  • Increasing consumption of soybean oil by educating institutional and food processing buyers on the benefits of using soy oil.
  • Creating demand for value added & identity preserved soybeans by educating importers and processors on the capabilities and commitment of U.S. suppliers to meet their needs.
  • Increasing demand for soy food ingredients by demonstrating to food processors the benefits of soy flour and other value added protein products.
  • Sustaining demand for soy food products by educating influencers world wide on the healthy benefits of consuming soy.
  • Tracking overseas policy and regulatory issues applicable to U.S. soy exports
  • Identifying and addressing trade barriers to ensure the competitiveness of U.S. soy

Informed Sports

is a supplement testing programme, designed to test supplements and/ or their ingredients for inadvertent contamination with substances prohibited in sport. The INFORMED-SPORT programme works closely with supplement manufacturers and suppliers by providing high quality analytical testing to minimise the incidence of banned contaminants finding their way into sport. It also works together with sports authorities and athletes, helping them to choose products that have been safety tested.
